1912 Harry born in Worthing, England.1913 Family moves to Los Angeles.
1930 Enters Stanford University. Tells classmates he is "temperamental" (i.e. homosexual).
1933 In October, attends first Communist Party meeting.
1936 Between 1936 and 1938, active in Hollywood Anti-Nazi League, the League Against War & Fascism, Mobilization for Democracy, Workers' Alliance of America, and other activist groups.
1946 Appointed Educational Director at Southern California Communist Party Congress.
1948 Conceives idea for "Bachelors for Wallace." Begins seeking support for starting a gay organization.
1950 Meets and begins relationship with Rudi Gernreich. On Dec. 11, holds first semi-public homosexual discussion group.
1951 "Mattachine Missions and Purposes" document adopted and first community dance is held. Divorce from Anita granted. Resigns from Communist Party.
1952 Mattachine organizes defense of Dale Jennings, gay man arrested in entrapment case. Genreich ends relationship.
1953 ONE magazine begins publication. After controversy regarding Harry's Marxist background, Harry and founders of Mattachine resign from the group.
1954 Summoned to appear before House UnAmerican Activities Committee. Testifies on July 2.
1965 With Don Slater, organizes a Gay motorcade in Los Angeles to protest military exclusion of homosexuals.
1968 to 1972 Involved with Native American politics and workshops.
1977 Speaks at New Mexico's first Gay Pride march in Albequerque. Participates in march against Anita Bryant in Los Angeles.
1979 With three others, organizes first Spiritual Conference for Radical Faeries in Arizona.
1980 Travels to Soviet Union as part of International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission delegation.
2002 October 24, Harry passes away quietly at home.
